The short answer? Nothing.

A few weeks ago, on an afternoon thrifting adventure with my parents, we happened along this cute little wooden cheese box. We’d seen similar boxes before, but this one was in great shape and was for Kraft singles! (A necessity for a classic grilled cheese, no?)Β So, we paid the small price (I think less than $5, can’t remember exactly) and headed home with our little treasure in tow.
I originally tossed it on the table as a holding place until I cold think of something to do with it.Β When I noticed it was the perfect size to store our salt and pepper shakers, I happily stuck them in there.
Then, I remembered we had grabbed a few random Trivial Pursuit games awhile back with the hope of setting them out as conversation starters/boredom busters on rainy days.
I had originally planned on Wyatt making some sort of box for these little cards. But when I accidentally realized these were the perfect size to go into the little cheese box, I figured why reinvent the wheel?
In fact, I think the little cards are so perfect in there, I probably should claim that was my plan all along! Aw well, I’ll be honest and admit that it was just a happy little accident.
I think it’s just pretty charming on the table. And we’ve actually used the cards a few times with friends and family recently—it’s fun! (And a very inexpensive little game if you find your games at thrift stores!)
We used three mismatched sets of trivial cards. One is a Kansas City-themed set, all of which are really hard. The other two are supposed to be easy enough for children to answer them. Some are still hard. Others are super-duper easy. So it’s a nice mix if you grab 2-3 cards out at a time to play.
Plus, we still have a bunch of cards we can swap out these with after we’ve gone through them all since we bought 3 whole sets of cards.
It’s a silly little update, but I think it’s fun.
So, there’s where I’m finding some joy on this Friday afternoon. What about you?
Cute! I want to make one! I love trivia games – we just got classic Trivial Pursuit recently.
Fun! We should try and play together sometime!
I love the Kansas City idea. I am going to look for some now.
Good luck! We found ours at a local Salvation Army…not sure how old it is…but perhaps from the 80s or 90s?
great idea!
Thanks!
Great idea and really cute!
Thanks! Can’t wait to see you all soon!
