This weekend was a busy, but great, one.
We started out recovering from 2 weeks of craziness. I have a grandma in the hospital for a serious injury so I’ve spent a lot of time with my family there. Before that, we were both gone for a week (Wyatt in Canada and me visiting family) so we had laundry, dishes, and all sorts of other normal household things to catch up on, like grocery shopping. Sheesh.
I feel like the weekend started of Thursday night, when we went out to eat with some friends. After a week of eating meals at the hospital or in fast food restaurants on the way home, it was great to sit and just relax for a night. Plus we got to see our favorite little picky eater chug some milk and munch on some crackers. What’s not to love about a girl who knows what she likes?
Then, on Friday night, I took down our Easter decorations and replaced them with something a little more relevant to our life right now…
Yup, we are officially living in a mess with this kitchen remodel. and instead of fighting it in an losing battle, I’m choosing to embrace the craziness.
Want proof of our mess? This is how our pantry/kitchen storage situation currently looks. Notice the garden mess tossed in the mix for good measure.
Yikes, huh?
This was my attempt to sketch the bags and boxes we have piled up everywhere right now.
Oh, and I have to show off my new little cactus, courtesy of my mother-in-law, in my awesome Easter basket this year.
But, on a positive note, I have fresh tulips in the house…even if they aren’t in a nice vase yet…they still make me happy…and make our bare kitchen a little more homey.
And yes, there’s a kitchen update coming soon. You saw how empty it looks in that previous photo, right? There was some serious demo done over the weekend, thanks to a hardworking husband and some help from the in-laws.
Sometimes, it’s nice to take a step back in the middle of all mess and just find some peace in knowing you are in this crazy, messy, chaotic journey with friends and family that make it all worthwhile. Someone remind me of that when I’ve been living with no kitchen for several months, okay?
We also spent some time outside in the garden (finally) so I’ll be back with an update on that soon, too. Here’s hoping we can stay away from severe springtime storms….and any late winter weather. I’m ready to get some plants in the ground and start our garden project again this year!
In the meantime, tell us what you did this weekend? Anyone else ripping out cabinets or finding peace in the chaos on a home remodeling project?
The cactus looks great in that pot. Hope it does well.
Me too! Thanks!
Good luck with living with your “mess” (I’ve seen worse, by the way, yours is at least very contained and hasnt spilled over to other rooms!)
It will all be worth it in the end when you get to cook in your dream kitchen!
Amen! Thanks for the words of encouragement…I’m hoping I don’t go crazy waiting for it to be all fixed again…but we do appreciate the support!
I love that chalkboard!! What a cute idea! LOL, and I really don’t think your house is that much of a mess at all – you should see some of the messes Eric and I have created for a lot small projects…but then again maybe you didn’t show us the worst of it 😉 Can’t wait to see update photos!
Thanks! And yes, the house is a mess, but we’re doing our best to keep in contained. I appreciate that you don’t think it looks all that bad…. hope to have some updates soon!
