Recently, I submitted our garden project to Westlake’s Project of the month contest and surprisingly enough, we won their third prize for October! What a fun little addition to our blogiversary celebration! (Don’t forget to go enter our giveaway!)

Westlakes post

In our entry, I basically detailed all the steps we took to create our garden this year, from recycling the doors, to adding the stone edging we saved from the front of the house, and more. It’s fun to see it all condensed down into those few paragraphs and photos since you all have been seeing it in a lot more detail here on the blog.

Plus, we received a $50 Westlake card, which came in really handy this week when we needed to pick up a fairly expensive tool before we could continue work on the pew and table project. I’ll tell you about that soon.

And, it’s cool to have a little bit of garden excitement after I was all bummed out about everything dying a few weeks ago. And when I’m getting tired of this little tomato ripening setup on my kitchen counter.

(We didn’t want to waste all our green tomatoes so we’re trying several different methods of using them up. SIDENOTE: If anyone has a recipe to use green cherry tomatoes or half ripened tomatoes in some sort of jam or preserve, please share it!)

Anyway, we were pretty tickled to win. You can check out this link to see the full feature on their website!

You can also visit this page to see all the winners for this month, and to enter your own projects in for next month!

Have you entered or won any contests lately? Been surprised by a gift card at a good time? Do you shop at Westlakes? It’s one of my favorite stores because their loyalty program rocks my socks off–instant rebates are the best!)

P.S. This isn’t the first time we’ve had some other online attention. Check out my post about being on the This Old House website…twice!
