Ok, so the title is a little misleading because Hubs was also involved in this dumpster diving escapade, and we all know he’s about as far from a diva as you can get. Still, it has a nice ring to it, so I’m going for it.Β
Here’s the back story: Our neighbors are doing a bunch of remodeling (new kitchen, new hardwood floors, new carpet, etc.) and they needed to rent a dumpster to haul away all of the old stuff.
Hence, this tweet last Friday afternoon:
But, I did manage to not stare out the window all night and we got on with our plans. Then, Saturday, we spent the afternoon working outside (which we talked about in this post) and I kept asking Wyatt if we could go ask them about dumpster diving–they were throwing away furniture! Luckily, our neighbor came over to apologize for the dumpster and to offer it to us if we had anything to get rid of.
At that point, I jumped in to ask if he minded if we took something out of it!Β He was surprised, but said we could if we wanted, which was all the invitation I needed!
Here’s what we found:
A metal plant stand that will do great with a coat of spray paint and a new top of some sort.
A couple ceramic tiles, big ones.
This awesome metal folding chair, which I CAN’T WAIT to spray paint!
(We also got a matching table for this chair, but it was after it got dark, so there was no photo.)
And a wooden nightstand in need of some updating.
And some scrap lumber, behind the nightstand.
Have you found any cool trash to save lately? Ever been dumpster diving? What do you think was our coolest find?
Score!! love the chair!
Me too!
Wow – you are ridiculously lucky at coming across *good* free stuff. I like the chair too. I think if the plant stand was going to have a large pot, you might be able to leave the top as is if it will be hidden.
Sometimes lucky! But these finds are few and far between I feel like! Othertimes we go to 10 garage sales (and check Craigslist everyday) and find nothing!. I’m not sure I’m going to use it as a plant stand…so we’ll just have to wait and see how this turns out.
Love the chair and the plant stand. Good job.
Thanks!
You can add it to your chair collection. They say “One mans trash is another mans treasure”. Congrats on your finds
Ha! For sure!
