This weekend was a busy one!

We started the weekend early on Thursday when my mom and sister came up to help set up our garage sale. It was HOT as we were out there cleaning and arranging and rearranging tables and rods in the garage, setting out clothes and other stuff to sell.

Garage Sale

We managed to get all that finished in time for Wyatt and I to set the garden boxes in the ground.

Friday morning began early, and Hubs went off to work while we ran the garage sale. After a fairly successful day, Hubs got home and started mowing our jungle of yard. (The rain is making our grass grow like crazy!) Then, my brother-in-law arrived with a load of dirt for the garden beds.

Load of Dirt

We finished up the night with grilled chicken and vegetables, then a housewarming party for some friends.

Saturday began early for all of us. The girls got the garage sale up and running again. Wyatt and Jeremy, (my sister’s husband) unloaded the dirt into the garden beds. I tried to help as much as I could with each, and I did a little shoveling, although not as much as the guys.Filling Garden Boxes 2

Then the boys headed off with the trailer to pick up a load of landscaping stones we bought, used, from one of Wyatt’s co-workers.

It was a pretty long trip, and a pretty big load, 211 stones.

They were all carried about two at a time, so the boys got in a good amount of sweaty, dirty, hard work before driving back home and then unloading all the stones at our house, stacking them up super neatly so they are stored away until we get ready to use them.

(We have several projects in front of them on the list.)

Then, Hubs left with his brother, who stopped by to pick him up since he needed help loading something big he had purchased second hand somewhere. I missed a lot of the details on this, and since it didn’t really involve me, I was too busy to ask for them. Oops.

Pretty soon, the garage sale was over and cleaned up, the stones were here, the dirt was in the garden beds, my family had gone home, and Hubs and I were left alone to shower and collapse.

We ended up eating leftovers and staying in, then going to bed early.

Sunday afternoon we hit up a few stores for some home-related purchases you’ll read about soon.

We also grabbed a few plants for the garden, although the storms made us store them all inside to protect them from the wind and the rain, so they aren’t in the ground yet.

Plants

We decided to stay in and relax last night as well, even though we’d planned to eat out. The storms were rolling in and we were too tired to rush out and get food after storm-proofing the outside of the house. This process included bringing in my precious blueberry plants and my spinach seedlings to protect them from the storm.

(Being a homeowner makes you a lot more responsible!)

We still have a lot to do this spring, and spring is almost over it seems. We got such a late start that all our outdoor projects feel like we’re running about a month behind. I’m a little in disbelief that we’ve made in almost 6 months into the year already!

Maybe we’ll get the garden planted and finished this week. Maybe not. I do know we’ll keep moving forward, one day at a time, loving life in this home of ours.
