Well, the Great Snow Storm of 2013 is over, I suppose, and now we’re left with the mess of cleaning it up.

Hubs shoveled a lot of our driveway yesterday, as I talked about in this post, and this video:

So, we had a much easier time working on it today, which I was very thankful for!

Shoveling snow seems like it would be fun because it’s reminiscent of the days as a kid spent playing out in the snow building forts and stuff. But five minutes of shoveling quickly reminds me just how un-fun it really is. Ouch.

Here’s how the front yard ended up looking:

The single path behind my car reminded me of the blizzard we had during my senior year of college when I wanted to get home for the weekend/had to go to work after having the most snow I’d ever seen in my life so I called plant operations to see if they could clear the lot but instead they came and scraped out a path for just my car before taking the time to remove it all. I still laugh about that…it just struck me as pretty funny for some reason.

(Although this snow storm was a really significant amount of snow, too!)

Here’s Hubs measuring a drift with his hand. Of course, we threw a little more on there, so it wasn’t quite waist-high, but still, it’s a lot of snow!

We also decided to shovel off the back deck so it would melt faster and not just sit on the wood for days and days and days. (It only gets sun in the morning back there so it won’t be super fast melting I don’t think.)

I’m not sure of the exact number of inches we had, but there was over a foot of snow on everything so I’d guess at least 13 inches, or more!

Still, it’s kind of picturesque, don’t you think?

And we even enjoyed the sunshine enough to throw a few snowballs, although neither of us was in the mood for a full-fledged fight after doing all that shoveling.

Anyway, how are you faring after the storm? Have you braved shoveling your sidewalks or driveway? (It’s a workout!) Did you play in the snow a lot? What about digging out your car, for those that don’t have a garage (which we’re so THANKFUL for after not having it at the apartment!)

(For a look back at our first snow day together, check out this post.)
