As I said earlier today, I’ve been dragging my feet a little with redecorating after I took down the Christmas stuff because I wasn’t sure if I should go with Valentine’s-themed items or just our “regular” stuff.

After deciding that Hubs wouldn’t like the pink and red heart stuff so much, and realizing I own only 1-2 Valentine’s Day items anyway so I’d have to make A LOT of stuff, I figured it was best to just use the stuff we had out before I packed it away for Christmas.

I tackled the mantel this morning, and finally finished up the bookcase tonight.

This is probably better anyway because I really do love a lot of the stuff we have to display and as crazy as it sounds, I actually miss my jar of Mississippi River water.

(Yes, I have one of those, don’t judge.)

Of course, there were a few new items to fit in to the mix, like this adorable red Vietnamese bicycle cart from Wyatt’s friend Anh. (As in Einstein without the “stein.”)

Other items on the bookcase that will always be among by favorites are these awesome bookends from my sister and brother-in-law:

Oops! Ten points to anyone who knows what’s wrong with that photo. Thanks, big sis for catching it!

(Ten more points to anyone who knows why I love these so much!)

Here’s how the living room bookshelves turned out:

The kitchen open shelves are also back to normal, with a few new editions. See those vintage Pyrex dishes? LOVE them!

Now tell me about your favorite things to display in your house! Go!

Hey, did you see the post about my winter mantle?
