Hubs and I have only lived in the city for a year or so. (For him, I’ve been there even less.)

And it’s a big city. That means we don’t know where everything is.

And we sometimes get lost.

And by “get lost” I mean miss the exit because I haven’t been able to read the GPS instructions (or I stop paying attention) and miss the road we’re supposed to turn on so Hubs has to make a U-turn. Which he doesn’t mind to do.

I don’t like doing it, though.

However, I don’t mind being lost and missing roads. It makes me feel like we’re exploring.  I just mind making U-turns really quickly when there’s a semi coming at us.

The past weeks of driving around looking around in neighborhoods for houses that are for sale.

Let’s just say we’ve made a lot of U-turns lately.

What about you? Ever get lost? Does it bother you? If it does, how do you get over it?

  • If I’m not in a hurry I don’t mind too much getting lost. It seems like I tend to get lost when I need to be somewhere. It probably just seems like a long time to find my way because I’m stressed by time.

  • Yay! I’m so glad you are doing the A to Z challenge! When I saw your name under mine, I was like, Oh! I know her! 🙂

Anywhoo, I heard somewhere that getting lost when you move into a big city is a good idea because that’s how you find all the great hole-in-the-wall restaurants. But, yes, I agree, U-turns and semis are just scary in general, especially when combined together. 🙂

  • here from A-Z… also a newlywed wife (7 months) except we’re on our second go around with three boys, 17, 10 and 11. 🙂

And let me tell ya darlin’, I get lost ALL THE TIME. I work for the Post Office, and drive for 4-5 hours a day…. I literally go in circles all day long. You’d think that would make it impossible to get lost, but no.

    *sigh*

Hi. I’m Juli, and I’m directionally challenged.

    • Hi Julie! Thanks for stopping by, and for taking the time to leave a comment! I think being a mail”person” would be a fun job. Glad I’m not the only one getting lost all the time!

  • It’s a long standing joke in the family about my sense of direction…or rather lack of one. My parents threw me a birthday party one year and had it in the backyard. I came home and there was a note on the front door with a map and fully detailed directions on how to find the back yard…. sheesh.. lol.

    • That’s too funny! I guess I shouldn’t complain too much if I can get around our little neighborhood. Plus, I have my phone’s GPS. Thankfully!
Thanks for reading! And for the comment!

  • Oh… well we have been married for over 30 years – which means that getting lost is no longer quite so much fun. Especially if your OH has no sense of direction, but refuses to ask anyone in the street – unless they look local. How on earth are you supposed to infer whether someone is local or not? LOL!

    • My Hubs doesn’t like to stop for directions either, but he will if needed. And I have no idea about the local. Except that thugs and gangster-types usually are pretty likely to be close to home, right? I guess that doesn’t make me any more likely to stop and ask, though!
