Last week, I shared about my efforts to finally tackle our hallway coat closet. That project ended up making a mess in the gust room because I robbed the storage drawers from that closet to use in the entryway.

So, the next day, I tackled the guest room and was finally able to make that area a little more functional.

First, I used the drawers I switched out from the hall coat closet to stash the items that had lost their home when I stole the drawer set. It was a little bit of a tight fit because I lost a drawer, but I made it work.

Then, I brought in another cheap white shelf, this time a hand-me-down from my sister. She had been using it as a night stand, but her husband just finished building her an awesome bedroom set of furniture. If she lets me, I’ll probably try to show it to you all, because it’s amazing.

Anyway, one of the main things we use this closet for is storing all our bags and suitcases. Hubs’ giant rolling suitcase sits really well on top of the stacked drawers on the left side of the closet.

On the right side, I stashed all of my reusable shopping bags in the white shelves. Behind that, my blue suitcase fits really nicely.

That leaves enough room on the floor for the vacuum.

The extra vacuum bags and other supplies are stashed in the white shelves with the shopping bags so everything is really convenient and easy to find.

The shelf on the top of the closet is still a bit of a disaster but at this point, it’s the best I can do. I don’t have anywhere else to store our giant extra comforter, pillows, and other random bedding items so they get stacked as neatly as possible and placed crammed up there.

I wish we could fit them in the dresser, which is where we keep all the sheets and smaller blankets, but these giant items have no where else to go.

In all seriousness though, we really don’t have that much else to go up there so it’s not a huge deal that we aren’t utilizing that space as well as we could be. Someday, when this room turns into a nursery or a playroom or something else, we’ll have to find a new home for all those big blankets and such.

Still, despite the semi-organized mess on top, things are looking a lot nicer in this little space.

Oh, and on the outside I hung this little sign Hubs got me several Christmases ago. I really like it and this isn’t a permanent place, but it was better here than in storage waiting for its future home on one of our walls.

So, there’s our guest room closet, all organized and arranged, nice and neat. Don’t tell anyone, but before tackling this project last week, the guest room closet was almost as bad as Monica’s closet.

Now, I’ve been honest, tell me where your “Monica’s Closet” is. You know you have one…
