I already showed you guys the sweet branch decoration I made for the mantle (Miss it? You can find it here.) but I wanted to share how the rest of the decor is looking now that I took down all the eggs for Easter.

I have to admit that I had a couple casualties when I was taking down the garland.

broken Easter eggs

When I loosened the tape, the twine slipped out from between my fingers and two of the eggs smashed against the brick hearth.

Still, the rest were fine and good to save for next year so I removed the taped on banner letters and placed the eggs, twine and all, into the egg carton for safe keeping until next Easter. (I told you how I made these in this post.)

The chalkboard got the biggest makeover, with a fresh new quote from Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. Hubs hasn’t seen this yet to read it, but I have a feeling he may groan in anticipation of all the work we’re planning to do outside this spring.

Still, I think the chalkboard turned out pretty cute. I even got a little fancy with my fonts this time.

I love the chance to use all my sunny yellow and green and blue during spring. Ok, I love using yellow to decorate all the time, but I think it looks especially bright and beautiful after the long winter and endless snow we’ve had over the past couple months.

I ended up leaving the yellow basket with the green moss even though I didn’t have anything to put in it. I think it looks pretty cute just as a basket with the bright green and yellow.

I did the same thing with the three yellow vases I snagged from the dollar store. They got moved to the bottom hearth though, and the basket took their place on the mantle.

Other than these little touch-ups, the living room stayed pretty much the same.

I did take a few minutes to incorporate my springy blue and yellow kitchen finds into the open cabinet in the dining area.

I also have to show you guys my adorable new tart pan!

The bottom pops out so you can bake quiches and other tarts. Maybe it we get any berries on our bushes, I’ll make a tart with fresh berries this summer!

Oh, and Wyatt’s brother found this sweet old household encyclopedia in the attic of an old hardware store he was working in, and saved it for me. Sweet find, huh?

I’m loving how fresh and bright and cheerful this spot is. It’s another unfinished project. (I want glass doors on it I think, or something more finished looking than how it is right now, but I still count it as one of my favorite spots in our house.)

How can anyone not feel cheerful with all this sunny yellow and beautiful blue?
