Ok guys, today I need your help. How? Well, it’s simple. All it takes is a simple vote, by way of comment at the bottom of this post.
What are we voting on? Well, remember Chester and Mr. Professor?
When we picked them out, Hubs was really in favor of changing out the hardware on them to something more like what we put on the kitchen cabinets as part of our mini makeover in there.
And I’m totally in favor of it, too. Sort of.
See, I honestly am not sure it’s going to make that much of an impact. Yes, I like the idea of brightening them up a bit to match what’s in the rest of the house (and our door knobs, etc.), but I also don’t want to spend a lot of money, only to get it done and not really be able to tell the difference.
Also, I’m not sure I’ll like the brushed aluminum any more than I already like/don’t mind the darker, Oil Rubbed Bronze ones that are on there. I mean, I honestly don’t notice them that much either way, other than that they currently don’t match.
You can see the difference a little bit in the older photo above, since it’s been living that way for weeks while we’ve been trying to decide if we wanted to change them or not.
Here’s a close up shot for better reference:
And one more:
And another of from farther away with the natural light from the window, just in case it helps…
Just to recap, here the pros and cons list how it stands now:
Pro Bling
- Knobs will stand out more from the dark wood
- Knobs will match other hardware in our house
- Piece will feel more “custom”
- Hubs likes the feel of the new knobs better in his hand
- We already have some leftover knobs (we were saving for the bathrooms) so it won’t be TOO expensive
Anti-Bling
- It may not be noticeable
- Knobs may stand out too much if we change them
- Time it takes to change them (minimal, but still…)
- What to do with the extra knobs?
- There will still be some added cost since we don’t have enough and will have to buy some
As you can see, we don’t have really strong reasons either way, so we’re asking for your help, guys.
Now, I know that more than 110 people read this every single day (not a ton of people, but we’re growing!–we’d grow more if you shared this with your friends! hint, hint…) so I’m expecting a lot of votes down there in the comments! It only takes a minute, and we really do want the advice.
You can vote by saying “Bling” or “No Bling,”, or by any others words or reasoning you’d prefer to use. The important thing is to just vote, okay? It’s easy, just leave a quick comment below, and I promise we read every single message that’s sent, so your voice will certainly be heard. So, let’s hear what you think!
New knobs!
First vote for the new ones!
I say no bling. I happen to like the darker color of the originial knobs with the dark wood, and who says all your furniture and hardware have to match ALL over your house? Unless you have other silver hardware or color scheme already in your bedroom, I’d say it’s ok to have different design schemes in a few rooms.
Well, we have no other hardware in there that I can think of right now, but that’s a good point to think about down the line! Thanks!
I would stay with what it came with. Not that much of a change from what is already there…for me. If you were going with a different shape or style, maybe.
Yea…which we could do I guess if Hubs just really wants to change them…very good point.
No bling. I don’t think it makes that much of a difference and if I was a guest I would never expect those knobs to match the rest of your house.
Thanks for the input!
I’d say No Bling . Or leave as is. Reasoning….If you want things matching, I would think it seems more logical to match the knobs on the kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and let the furniture sing its own song. 🙂 (Of course either way, it will look good!)
Nice, mom. I like the reasoning. Maybe I’m the way I am because you think furniture can “sing its own song!”
I like how the new knobs look since they’re brighter against the dark wood, but for the time and cost that it would take to change them all, the knobs that it came with look good too! If you don’t mind changing every one, I say put the shinier ones on there!
Ha! I like how your answer is exactly how I’m debating… thanks!
Bling it on!
🙂
No bling…I’m all for matching, but it’s sometimes nice to have some contrasting colors! I also like that the darker ones don’t stand out as much from the dark wood!
I think so, too…but then again, I also like the new ones! Ugh!
I say no bling. The ones that are on it look better with the dark wood. And you don’t necessarily have to “match” everything in the house…
Thanks!
Hmmm.. well first I want to tell you how beautiful of a set they are! As for the knobs, I can tell why you wanted input, I’m torn! I say change them I think it will be a nice upgrade. And you can always craigslist the original ones to make a few bucks back!
Thanks for the comment! And, yes, I’m still torn!
I say no bling! Save the attention for the things sitting on top/around the dressers, not the knobs themselves. It all depends on what you want the focus of the dresser to be.
Great point! We currently have…well, nothing on top of them (still looking for a good deal on something we love) but that’s so true!
The decision is yours, if you’re undecided sit on it for awhile. No rash decisions, whatever you decide it will be beautiful.
Thanks! Always a good reminder,
I vote no bling. I like the matte knobs!
Thanks for the vote!
No bling. Save the money you would spend on the new hardware for other more eye-catching design features.
Like more accessories!
The kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom hardware are 3 areas that only you two will see(company typically doesn’t see the bedroom). If you and Wyatt are apathetic towards the decision, don’t waste the time.
Good point.
Since you both are undecided, my advice is to give it a little more time, then you will be sure. I think the knobs look very nice just as they are.
Very true. I’m just getting tired of having it mis-matchy!
