We did it! Last night, one year from first seeing our house, we planted the garden.
Yup, the garden we’ve been talking to you guys about for months now.
It all started with my attempt to get a head start on my seeds inside, which didn’t end well. (You can read about that here.)
Then, we built raised garden beds out of the doors we replaced in our house. You can read about that process here and here.
Then, finally, we got them set out and filled with dirt. (Here and here.)
And now, months after we first had the idea to reuse our doors and make them into garden beds, we have plants!
We picked up a few bags of Miracle Gro garden soil and spread them out on top of the soil we already had in there.
Then, the strawberries went in!
I laid out the plants first to get the spacing right.
After a few minutes, all the plants were in, and a few seeds!

I’ll be back soon with more details on the specifics we have planted, and an update on how everything is doing.
Sadly, this evening when I went out to check on them, something, a bird I think, had snacked on the one strawberry that was almost ripe.
I guess the next project is to come up with a plan to keep the birds away. Suggestions?
My Metalic Pinwheels are working very well on my grapes.
We got some to try! Hope it works!
