I already hinted at our new view yesterday, but it’s time for the big reveal. After about an hour more work last evening after Hubs got home from work, this is what our final result looks like:
It’s a big difference when you consider just how far we’ve come in the past couple months (yes a project that could have taken us one very long weekend was stretched out over a couple months–that’s how we roll around here. Sometimes other projects, and life, get in the way.)
Here’s how it looked early this spring:
And then how it looked in the summer before we tore it all out:
After we tore it out:
And after we rebuilt the rock wall:
And then added the dirt and laid out the plants:
Planted the plants:
And finally, added the mulch:
I think it’s funny that we just finished our outdoor project…right before it’s going to get cold for the year. But that’s okay, at least we’re ready for trick-or-treaters!
And, we’ll be all ready to go next spring…after removing all the leaves that are sure to fall over the next several months. Perhaps we’ll get motivated to rake some leaves this fall. I swore we would rake this fall earlier this spring when we were left with a big wet mess!
It makes me pretty happy to look out the front windows and be able to see the street instead of a giant bush blocking the view. And, it’s nice to be in control of the landscaping, instead of the shrubs, grass, and weeds overtaking everything.
When we finished, Wyatt stepped back and said, “Check out that curb appeal!” which made me pretty happy because I know he doesn’t always care for projects like this. (He prefers building things rather than planting, pruning, weeding, and mulching—and really, who can blame him?) Still, it was pretty fun to see him excited about it.
And we still used a few of the cool big rocks that were buried under all that mess!
What curb appeal projects have you done? Anything exciting going on outside in your neck of the woods?
Looks awesome. Great work.
Thank you! Feel free to come admire it sometime soon…we would suggest this weekend but it seems full. You can come for a weeknight dinner sometime, though!
Looks great!!
Thanks! Good to see you today!
