Well, the Easter weekend is over, and wow, what a glorious day yesterday was!
We enjoyed time with both of our families, having lunch with my parents after church. Steak, salad, and macaroni and cheese was a great meal to share together.
After a couple of hours of visiting my side of the families, I got my deviled eggs together to take over to Wyatt’s parents’ house for dinner.
It was my first time ever making deviled eggs, and I don’t want to brag too much, but I’m super pleased with how they turned out!
Using tips from my cousin, who has been bringing colored deviled eggs to family celebrations on my mom’s side of the family for a few years now (my mom says that’s the way her grandma used to make them for Easter), and the recipe from my grandma (on my dad’s side of the family), I was happy to be able to carry on the tradition in my own way.
I had a great time making them with help from my sister, who also helped, along with my mom, to make my chocolate-filled rice-krispie treat eggs. Yum.
At Hubs’ parents, we had fried turkey (cooked in one of those oil-less fryers-yum!), green bean casserole, rolls, baked potatoes, and my eggs, of course.
Everything was so good that I almost didn’t want to eat the delicious cake she made for dessert… almost.
We spent as much time as possible outside enjoying the breeze and the sunshine, just like we did on Friday (as seen in the Instagram below).
On Saturday, I celebrated my cousin’s 13th birthday!
Wow, she’s growing up so fast that it hurts my heart a little when I remember summer days spent with these two little cuties.
Hubs couldn’t make it to the birthday party because of a work event, in which he got to watch Sporting Kansas City win a soccer game from the company suite. I was super bummed to miss it, but happy to be with my family. Still, this picture made me a little jealous. Suite sweet view, huh? (click on the image to see it larger)
I have to tell you that it certainly feels like spring may be finally on its way…despite the fact that we had snow in the forecast for today…although it’s still bright and sunny outside, so I think we might be safe. Woohoo!
Check out my post about having Spring Fever, here. And my post from Good Friday, about being, and having, a beautiful mess.
Now it’s time for you to rewind and tell us how you celebrated Easter!
