This weekend, I made pins to add our Florida vacation to our map pinboard. I also added a few important pins to the middle of the country.
Yea, we decided to go ahead and add pins for our house and our apartment.
It helps keep things centered around what’s really important as we add pins all over the country.
The process for adding these pins is actually kinda fun because not all the towns and cities we visit are large enough to be printed on the map. I use a process of cross referencing Google maps to locate the best estimate of each location.
We added pins for each airport we visited because those stops seemed pretty significant to this trip considering it was my first time ever on an airplane. Overall, we typically choose to only pin cities we spend a significant portion of time in. (Hotels, restaurants, events, major sight-seeing, etc. Not places we just stopped for gas or for a few minutes.)
Since we flew this time, there isn’t a fun “string of cities as we road tripped across the country, but it still makes a nice little trip.
So, there ya have it, the new pins from our Florida this a few weeks ago, added to the rest of the nearly three years of little travels we’ve documented so far in this marriage.
It’s pretty fun to see these pins because it’s our first time adding pins outside of the middle of the country.
And I still think this is perhaps one of our favorite projects to date. It’s the perfect piece of interactive art for the entryway.
Especially when it’s paired with the sign over the doorway that reminds us no matter where we go, every story begins at home.
So, tell us what pins you’d like to add to your map. We were pretty excited to add some east coast options…now to get to the Northeast and West Coast! (And Colorado!)
Psst! If you want to know how we made this travel map pin board, read this post!

I think it would be fun to change the color of the flags once you have a family to differentiate between solo couple travels and family vacations!
