As a matter of fact, our garden is growing quite nicely, thanks for asking!
It’s time for a little check-up, so you guys can see how we’re doing-garden-wise.
We recently gave our tomato plants a trim and they’ve been growing like crazy since then!
We love that we have several yellow and red cherry tomatoes that are ready everyday!
And lots of new ones that have yet to start turning!
We’ve also had a couple big tomatoes, too!
We did have some trouble with tomato end-rot, but we’re trying to water more consistently and we’ve added some lime (for calcium) to the soil in hopes of that preventing more of these beauties from not ripening all the way.
Even the ones that have suffered a bit are still edible though, just don’t eat the part that’s bad and you still have a delicious home-grown tomato!
Yum!
And take a look at all those peppers!
We have green bell peppers right now—they should turn red, we hope, because I like those better.
Another variety of bell peppers, still waiting on them to turn red, too.
The jalapenos are rocking it, though.
And the hot banana peppers, wowza!
We still have strawberries, too, which has really surprised me. I didn’t think we’d have them all summer, but I guess some “everbearing varieties” really do bear fruit all summer!
Our blueberries are pretty much done for the year, and the raspberries didn’t produce at all. But that’s pretty normal for the first year. We did get 15-20 blueberries this year, which isn’t too bad!
In the next bed, the new zucchini are growing! They’re still smaller than the ones we had before, but they are getting bigger everyday!
Our asparagus is still growing. Although we haven’t had a harvest from these this season. (That’s also normal, though.)
Check out how awesome the parsley is doing now!
Remember how sickly it looked when I replanted it? Wowza!
We’ve also seen our dill go crazy out there!
In fact, I had enough dill to make homemade pickles with our homegrown cucumber and dill!
And I can’t forget the marigolds, which add fun pops of color and provide some natural bug repellent.
Speaking of cucumbers—these have been our biggest success!
We have several to pick every day usually, which is super fun! And we’ve been able to share them with friends and family, which is also a great feeling!
Oh, and I can’t forget one of my favorite parts of the garden–the eggplants are finally taking off! Look at those little babies!!
Can’t wait to pick them and eat them!
So that’s the tour of our garden right now…I’d love to have an update on your gardens, too! (Or ideas for how to use some of these garden goodies–share your best tips!)
