Tonight’s post is a quick one to say that we now have Christmas lights up on the outside of our house.
Now, I’ll admit that they don’t look super fancy, and are even a tad sloppy. It was cold out and we were rushing to beat the sunset and we were working with no hooks and no staple gun(that’s how my dad used to do it) so we had to go with only wrapping the porch railing and hoping they stay. We also have the little snowman guy I had in my dorm room window at college, he was “trash” at my parents’ house a few years ago, but I’ve salvaged him for 3 years now with zip ties and duck tape. It’ll be a sad day when he really does bite the dust…
Still, being the Christmas-light-crazy-fan that I am (hey, that almost rhymed…), we had to do something. We even put lights up on our tiny balcony at out apartment last year! I mean, I can’t help glowing like an excited little kid when I start to see those little lights popping up all over in November. And now that we live in the suburbs, with a whole neighborhood of houses that are decorated, I feel the need to participate in a tradition I love so much.
Maybe next year will be the year we get organized and make a plan and actually have everything we need to put up a nice display. Until then, I’m pleased with how rustic and simple and yet still cheerful these multi-colored LEDs are, just glowing away out on our front porch.
Yup, we have a front porch.
On our house.
Yes, we have a house.
That we live in.
And love.
Something tells me that having slightly messy Christmas lights is not such a big deal in the grand scheme of Christmas blessings we’ll be celebrating this year.
What about you…any not-so-great-yet-still-totally-awesome things in your life right now? I’d love to hear about it!
Perfect for you First Christmas in your HOME!
Thanks!
I think it looks good, even the rescued snowman. Glad you saved him!
Ha! Yes, he’s served us well. Thanks for donating him!
