We’ve had a pretty hectic couple of days being away from home with some family stuff going on earlier this week, and before that, we were out of town for the entire weekend. Needless to say when we finally got home last night around 9:30, we headed straight for our bed.
It’s amazing how comforting it can be to have the familiar feel of your own pillow, your own sheets, your own bed. And the little things, like the chapstick on the nightstand and the eye drops in the spot that I always know right where to reach for them, are so important, yet we don’t realize until they are no longer there and we’re left searching through a suitcase with half-closed eyes in the morning, hoping I don’t blink too hard and cause a contact to roll up and fall out of my eye…
But I guess that’s a little off topic.
The thing I want to talk about today is just how much we love this home, even though we still have so much work to do and we’ve only been here a few short months.
I love the comfortable way Hubs and I snuggle into the loveseat together. And the way I know where all the hidden chocolate is in the house. And the slightly messy/happily-lived-in look our bedroom always seems to have when we walk in there at the end of a long day. I even love the cold sheets that feel crisp when we climb into them and take refuge under the big quilt, cuddled together and waiting for the bed to warm up so we can go to sleep.
Now it’s your turn, tell me the things you love most about your home! And what you miss most when you’re away from it!?
What I love most about my home is that it is “ours.” There isn’t a thing in this house that doesn’t hold a memory or make me think of my husband or our marriage. Home is really a state of mind I think. I could come home to this same house will all different insides and it wouldn’t really be home even though it is the same house.
So true! And so wonderful! Thanks for the comment!
