Last weekend there were several neighborhood garage sales near our house. So, like any good bargain hunter, I set out to get to all of them.
I’d estimate I went to about 20 garage sales in one day…and I thought I’d share my favorite finds with you guys.
First up, here’s a view of all the finds together:
I found a couple little books and a few random kitchen items I’ve been wanting. All for super cheap (or free!) The socks were a great deal and brand new (and I’ve already worn the blue pair!).
The frame was a steal (real glass and metal for $2!) so I couldn’t pass it up for future use.
The Farmer’s Almanac tin is actually from a couple of weekends ago, but I haven’t shared it with you all yet.
For just $.25, I think it’s super sweet and charming. I’m not sure what I’ll use it for yet, but I’m sure I’ll find something to put in it. I just think it’s really charming.
Lastly, the find I’m most excited about, freezer baskets.
Specifically, freezer baskets that perfectly fit our little deep freezer.
But to back up, I had recently been cursing the lack of organization in our little garage freezer. It was tiny and stupidly thrown in there all haphazardly. Not good.
So I saw these for $.50 cents each at a garage sale and picked them up to show Wyatt. I figured they wouldn’t fit in our freezer to hang, but we could at least use them to stack and organize everything a little better. Still, if Wyatt had said he didn’t want to get baskets to simply stack (as in he’d rather go home to measure and then go by new ones that fit perfectly at the store), I would have put them back with no complaining. Luckily, Hubs is usually game for my suggestions, so we paid our small bill and headed home.
And guess what? They fit!
I was shocked and super excited that these bargain baskets were the perfect size for our freezer! They slide and move just like the one that came with the freezer when we bought it. Can you even tell which ones are new and which was the original?
I did a quick search online and found a comparable product listed (but out of stock) for $10.99, here. That means we got ours for over 95% off! Score!
And now, we have a lot more organization in our freezer! I can’t even describe to you all how excited I was when I realized that instead of stacking organized baskets of frozen food like this:
…that we could HANG baskets of frozen food…and for nearly free! Best garage sale surprise of the year. Seriously, I was stoked. Ecstatic even!
Am I a nerd for freaking out about nearly free freezer baskets? Do you think my yellow Farmer’s Almanac tin is silly since it’s just empty for now? What’s the best find you’ve seen at a garage sale recently?
Great find. I think that is my biggest pet peeve about our freezer, no organization.
