So towards the middle of winter, I was fiddling with my temperature controls in the Honda. Being that she was born in 1990, the controls are a little bit temperamental. I was a little bit hasty when turning the knob and something broke.  I lived with it blowing out hot air (even when it isn’t on, it is blowing) for the last 6 months until I decided it was time.

Hard to tell, but this is before.  The cluster of wires that you can see above the shifter is the hole where the radio was before it was stolen.

I took several screws out, most of which were not visible without removing something from the dashboard.  There was a screw behind each vent, the change tray, the ash tray, the cruise control button, the interior light dimmer, and the power outlet. There were also two screws right above the instrument panel.  I would not have been able to find them all without the help of YouTube (You can pretty much find any kind of DIY video on there…but don’t stop reading our blog because I sent you there!). Once all of the screws were out, I pulled the dashboard loose.

You can see the various components laying around, including the temperature component on the passenger seat. The piece that needed fixing looked similar to how the hand brakes on a bicycle look. I needed to reattach the cable to the cable holder on the knob. I put it all back together and here it is!

Looks the same doesn’t it? It’s because it is the same picture. I flipped the temperature to cool and enjoyed the fruits of my labor, but not too much enjoyment because it was blowing out lukewarm air (the air conditioner is broken).  It is the little things in life that count.

Have you taken time to enjoy the little things? What was it? If you have any DIY questions, be sure to comment and I will try to find an answer for you!
