As I mentioned yesterday, I made some new Easter eggs this year, even though I wasn’t really sure about decorating since our house is kind of torn up right now. But then I decided to go ahead and write a new message on the chalkboard…
which led to adding a few baskets of eggs to the mantle…
and a basket down on the hearth…
which led to a basket of eggs on the end table…
which led to a basket of eggs in the kitchen…and… well, you get the idea.
Actually, I decorated a little more than just a basket in the kitchen because I also had some adorable speckled malted milk ball eggs to put out. (I had to put them out…Wyatt was driving me crazy asking me every day when we could open them.)
The kitchen was also the perfect place for the sign my parents gave Wyatt for Christmas.
(See, my mom can’t/won’t eat any “cute chocolate.” So, her chocolate bunnies from Easter baskets when she was a kid would sit untouched until they were either stolen or thrown away. When Wyatt learned about this little character trait, he immediately vowed to always show up to Easter with a chocolate bunny, which is a fun tradition for everyone. Especially for my dad, who has no problem eating the above mentioned chocolate bunny after my mom has gone to bed for the night.)
So, here’s where we ended up on the mantle this year.
I used the yarn-wrapped bottles I made last year, as well as the yarn-wrapped eggs, some white plastic eggs in green moss, and the hollow twine egg to finish it off.
Of course, my little metal Easter animals also got to make an appearance.
I really like how the little speckled eggs I painted turned out. I think they look natural and sweet. Almost sophisticated. If Easter eggs can be sophisticated…
It isn’t overly decorated, but it’s enough to be festive.
After all, even if our house gets messed up a little, or a lot, we can still celebrate with chocolate and Easter eggs, right?
How are you decorated for Easter this year? I’d love to see photos if you have them!
No decorating until our bathroom is complete!! 🙂
I totally get that…sending speedy well wishes your way so you’ll have a completed room soon!
Is the apple pillow on the bottom of the mantle the pinterest challenge that you did for Bower Power/YHL? (Yeah for baby boy tomorrow!).
Yes! It makes me so happy that you saw it, remembered it, and commented! Thanks for the smile that brought to my face tonight! And yes, I’m so excited to see their new little one…and little LJ Bower is CUUTE!
That blog post is how i found your blog. It jolted my memory when I saw it. Hope you have a great Easter 🙂
You, too!
