Yesterday marked a fun milestone for Wyatt and I. We’ve now been together for 10 years total (dating and marriage years). Wowza. That’s over a third of my life!
And just for fun, this photo was taken the day he asked me to be his girlfriend. 10 Years ago yesterday.
Since we had been at World’s of Fun that day 10 years ago, I briefly considered asking if Wyatt wanted to go back, but we decided we really didn’t even like World’s of Fun that much, and we had no desire to pay expensive ticket prices to go walk around in the rain.
So, we had normal work days, and then headed out to dinner at a BBQ place. Then, we had some wine and chilled on the couch the rest of the night, refusing to work on the kitchen (even though we should) and just reminiscing about everything that’s happened in the last 10 years.
Craziness, I tell you.
If you’d asked either of us on that day 10 years ago where we’d be today, you wouldn’t have heard either of us say we’d be married to each other. I was 15 and stupid–bound and determined that no matter how much I liked this guy, we’d never be serious enough for him to break my heart. He was 16 and annoyed at me for saying earlier in the day that I wasn’t his girlfriend (which was totally true, mind you, considered he hadn’t asked me to be yet!).
But, here we are.
Also, just for fun, here’s a fun little rewind of how we spent our 7-year anniversary 3 years ago (We’d only been married for 3 months at that point!). We even (unknowingly) went to the same restaurant!
You can read that here.
Happy Friday, friends! I’d love to know how long you’ve been married, or engaged, or how long you’ve been dating? How do you celebrate anniversaries?
Happy 10th! Wow, can’t believe it! That’s a lot of one life spent with one person! Just about 5 more years and you’ll have been together more time than you were single. Thanks for being a great example that “first loves” can last if they are true and you are willing to work for them.
I know, it’s crazy! Wyatt and I realized in 5 more years, it will be half of my life, and longer than I was ever single. Glad to share our “high school sweetheart status” with you guys! 🙂
