I finally got around to adding artwork to the walls in the nursery. I have to say, I wasn’t sure that would happen before Beanie arrives, but three cheers for a few final pushes, right?

Over the crib, I wanted to create a little gallery of some of my favorite prints. Some, I had been collecting and saving for awhile. Others, like the It’s a Wonderful World print and the Winnie the Pooh quote, I whipped up on my own and am happy to share with you, all. Scroll to the bottom for the links to print your own.

I found the Pooh print at a thrift store in my hometown several years ago.

It was part of a set (and I bought the whole thing, of course. I ended up only using this one for now, though, because I want to avoid going overboard with any one character or theme for the nursery. It was my favorite because it just looks so dreamy for a sweet little one to fall asleep under. Maybe someday, I’ll switch it out for one of the others, or hang them in a playroom or something, because they are cute, too.

I wanted to reframe it, though, with a nice, matted, white frame. We bought a few from Target originally, but on our recent anniversary trip to Ikea, we picked up some from there that were WAY cheaper. I was a little turned away from the Ikea ones at first because even though the frames were bright white, the included mattes were slightly off white, more cream-colored, but I thought it would be fine. Luckily, I found out the backs of those mattes are bright white.

Perfect, bright white. Score! Just a little tip for all you other thrifty shoppers out there. You’re welcome. 🙂

That dreamy Pooh print was the starting point for the gallery and I worked out from there. I also really liked this clearance balloon print I found at Target. The colors were great for bringing in a little bit more of the coral and orange accents I’m trying to add into the space so it isn’t all yellow, green, and blue.

Also, it’s hard to take a photo of a picture in a frame. Hello, light reflection!

I picked up a matching shadow box from Target to balance out the wooden frame on the other side. For now, I stuck a sweet little alphabet watercolor print in there, but I will likely add some of Beanie’s tiny baby mementos down the road.

One of my favorites is this little Valentine I downloaded for free several years ago.

(I keep a folder of free printables in my dropbox that I can sort through and print whenever I’m working on a project like this. There’s also several cute options on my Pinterest account, here.

It’s just funny. Plus, it’s a subtle, slightly more appropriate reference to the FRIENDS scene where Ross and Rachel rap the original version of the song to make their little one laugh, much to the dismay of their disapproving friends.

The other two larger prints were a quick little design project while I rested with my feet up on the couch Saturday afternoon. You can download the It’s a Wonderful World print, here.

I also created the smaller “hello sunshine” print, which you can download by clicking on the image and select “save image as” to save and then print at your own leisure (as long as you don’t sell it to others!) It’s smaller, so I wouldn’t recommend printing it larger than a 4 x 6 size.

I’m not sure why, maybe my mom used to say it to me in the mornings, but it was just one of the little sayings I thought would be cute to include.

All in all, a very sweet little gallery collection for our nursery, I think, with minimal cost involved. I spent $65 on frames and artwork, total, for the entire room (including a couple for another wall) so that’s not bad at all.

And for posterity’s sake (since we use this blog as a sort of journal to help record and remember our lives, here’s an action shot of this project that Wyatt snapped.

It’s weird for me to see myself all pregnant in photos. I mean, I know I am, but I still hardly recognize my body. It’s an odd feeling when you’re not used to it, this motherhood thing.

Of course, we may switch out some of these prints down the road for something a little more specific to our little man or little lady’s tastes. But, for now, it’s just sweet as is.
