We had a busy weekend! And really, we didn’t do any work at all. It was an entirely fun time. (We’re stocking up on fun stuff now for when the crazy kitchen remodel begins, perhaps?)

Anyway, on Friday, we had a surprise double date with some friends from church. The boys were in on the secret and planned a fun night for us at theΒ New Dinner Theater.

Not only did we have a good time with some new friends, we also checked off our “Kansas City appreciation date night” for March! Plus, it’s always fun to have an occasion to wear something fancy out on the town, right?

Then, on Saturday, we headed to a wedding reception for Wyatt’s cousin and got to spend the day with family we don’t see nearly often enough. I didn’t snap any photos while we were there, unfortunately, but it was a good time. You’ll just have to take my word for it.

Wyatt did take this cool photo while we were there, though, so I’ll include it for you all because I think it’s nice:

On Sunday, we went to church and then I came home and took a nap. My allergies have been giving me fits again lately and benadryl knocks me out. As in, I can barely hold my eyes open an hour after I take it. It stops the sneezing though, so sometimes I give in and take it. We do have allergy tests scheduled for this week, though, so hopefully we can get some answers soon.

Then, we had some friends over to eat steak and play games. We played a couple of new games inspired by Hollywood Game Night and the girls won the second round. We won’t talk about the first round….

Now, it’s Monday again…how does the time fly so fast when we’re having fun on the weekend?? And, it’s snowing. Yup. Snowing again.

Snow on grill

Aw well, I’m thankful to be warm inside in my office, trying to get motivated enough to get a jump start on my deadlines next week. Oh, and making plans for renting a dumpster. Yes, friends, this kitchen project is about to get real.

Real messy that is. And real scary. We’ve never knocked out a wall before (it’s a small wall, but still!) nor have we ever installed 700+ feet of hardwood flooring. Yikes.

But, we’re ready to tackle these and other projects in the coming weeks. Hold onto your hats, all, we’re about to take a wild ride on the remodeling side!

Now, tell me what you did this weekend? Did you start your spring cleaning? Start a garden? Or are you still shoveling snow like we are in Missouri? (Ok, so it’s just flurries today, but still!)

6 Thoughts on “Weekend Rewind: Surprise and Social Edition”

  • Glad you are getting to know KC better, we went to that theater a long time ago. We were also happy to be able to spend time with you.

    • I agree…it’s crazy out there! Fingers crossed we start on the kitchen soon…it’s almost time to start packing everything up out of our cabinets. Yikes!

  • Oh knocking out walls….we’ve done that! It’s not as scary as it sounds…the longest part is the clean up afterwards. (I do have in-laws that do that sort of thing alot though, so it’s easy to say that in hindsight! They’ve lived in about 6 houses in our hometown).

    • That’s great you have a good support team of helpers! We’re hoping we can talk some of our family into helping as well! Thanks for the encouragement!
