On Sunday, I turned 24.

(Which, to me, feels a lot older than 23, which by comparison, didn’t feel that much older than 22. Does anyone understand the way I process these different ages or is it just me?)

Anyway, we had a busy weekend, with not a whole bunch of time to celebrate, but things still turned out pretty perfectly.

For one thing, this happened on my computer screen:

Google Birthday

Did you know Google made personalized birthday scenes? (I’m sure it’s because I use Google Chrome as my browser and was logged into my account. You can’t expect the entire world to see this on your birthday, unless you’re famous, then maybe you can.)

Anyway, on Friday night, we had pizza from Pizza Hut, and we went grocery shopping, which was much needed by that point. (We usually go on Tuesdays or Wednesday evenings.)

Then, on Saturday we went bargain hunting at a bunch of neighborhood garage sales. I’ll show you one of our treasures in an upcoming post.

We also made a stop in at Target and Wyatt let me pick out my own birthday presents, which was pretty fun. I’m super tickled about this new addition to our open shelves in the kitchen.

Olive bowl 2

Mostly because I love olives, of course, but also because it’s blue and white and ceramic (all weaknesses of mine). Pretty, yes?

Then, we headed to the nursery to get our replacement zucchini, came home, and worked around the house and yard. Wyatt mowed. I planted and watered and harvested (mostly cucumbers and an occasional yellow cherry tomato at this point).

As for Saturday night, it was spent like this:

Sporting Game

Did you happen to recognize anyone in this photo, from Sporting Kansas City’s Facebook page? Here, look a little closer.

And then on Sunday, my actual birthday, Hubs made me pancakes. Yum.

And we did a little more house-stuff, picking up and prepping for the casual birthday dinner we hosted that night with friends.

birthday kabobs

After all that, we ended the night with cupcakes on the couch, and a disc of FRIENDS. After Wyatt sang me the birthday song, of course. He’s a good man, that one.

I’d say it was a pretty awesome weekend. I’m hoping to celebrate again with family this weekend, in some form, shape, or fashion. But we have weddings to attend the next two weekends, so I’m not sure how well it will work out.

I guess that’s the beauty of summer, though. It’s glorious and busy and crazy and awesome, all at the same time.

(So awesome in fact, that this weekend rewind post is now closer to the next weekend, instead of the one it’s supposed to be recapping. Ah well!)

Tell me what you did last weekend! Or what you’re going to be doing this weekend! Share!
