Well guys, it seems like our house fills up a little more every time we make a trip back home to visit our families. For some reason, we ALWAYS come back with more than we left with. This time, our weekend included some garage sales, as well as a little bit of free finds from our families. Here’s how it went down:

Friday, we packed up and left after Hubs got home from work. We had one suitcase, my purse, a bag of fabric for a project, and a bag of gifts for Father’s Day and my sister’s birthday. We also both had our laptops.

Over the course of the weekend, we visited both our parents, saw my grandparents (on my dad’s side), went to church, visited 4 garage sales, and completed a few projects with our parents.

When we came home last night, we had added a lamp shade, two picture frames, two sets of sheets, my old muff, a silicone basting brush, a yellow bird house that used to be a flower arrangement, a lint ball remover thing, a small wooden cross and a garden gnome.

Stuff from our parents

My grandma gave me this really cool antique three gallon crock:

Plus, in the garage we now have two tomato cages, a cucumber trellis and stakes, just waiting for the rain to stop so we can stick them in our garden.

In the garage, we also now have another foam cooler that we carried 20+ pounds of beef and pork home to our freezer in. (Thankful for families that farm!!)

Oh, and we brought home these.

New Chairs

Yup, the count in the chair room has been increased by two.

Oops.

Except not oops, since I bought these on purpose. Some day, we’ll get around to refinishing all these guys. Some day…

As for the garden stuff, it was all free from our parents (thanks) and since it won’t really be going inside, I’m not sure it counts as something to fill up our house. It does mean that we had an extra crowded car on the way home, though. And more work to do out there.

In all seriousness though, we had a great weekend visiting our families and celebrating our dads. There was good food, laughter, some yard work (which resulted in multiple bug bites), church, movie watching, more good food, and some much appreciated conversation and catching up.

The garage sales and family “donations” were just an added bonus.

We hope you had a great time with your families this weekend as well. Do you experience the same phenomenon when you visit people or take a trip? Don’t tell me we’re the only ones who (some how) collect stuff wherever we go?!?
