The garden is, by far, the most surprising success we’ve had at the new house so far.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve really enjoyed so many of the projects we’ve done, and I think pretty much everything has been a success, in some degree…but the garden…we just never expected that after only a few weeks in the ground, it would look like this:

Yup, those are some BIG tomato plants, huh? And the peppers aren’t doing do bad either. Neither are the strawberries, if I do say so myself.

I mean, when we set out to have a garden this year, we had hopes of things growing and doing well. We just never imagined they’d grow this much, so fast…

Anyway, check out the zukes!

This is after we’ve thinned them twice (part of which you can see on the ground there, waiting for the lawnmower to chop up)… and they just can’t get enough, I guess. We’ve harvested one so far, but I plan to cut a few more today I think.

Also, our asparagus is doing awesome.

Garden-End of June 5Hubs likes this progress most of all I think. We were both surprised by how much it’s grown this year…even though we haven’t harvested anything. (That’s on purpose. It takes a couple of years to get it going.)

And the cukes…wowza!

Garden-End of June 4

We finally got the trellis in the bed for them to grow on and boy, do they like it! We’ve harvested 7 cucumbers so far guys. 7!

At this point, I’m wishing we had gotten two trailing varieties instead of trying the bush variety, too. It’s doing well, but it takes up way more space in the bed since it’s growing, but it won’t climb. Bummer.

The beans, in the front part of that bed, are also doing well. I’m excited to have them put out the pods soon!

Anyway, there’s a little garden update for you all. We have some plans (hopefully to get some more work done soon (and finally get finished building it) so stay tuned!

How are your gardens/potted plants/indoor herbs/fake flowers doing? Let’s hear about it!
