We’ve done a little bit of DIY-related shopping recently and I wanted to share some of our new stuff as we head into this new year of blogging. We’ll try to post some updates on these things as we go forward, just so you can see how we’re liking/using/regretting any of these purchases.

First up is probably the item I’m most excited about. We now own a paint sprayer! Boom!

New Graco Paint Sprayer

We I spent several researching this purchases, flipping back and forth between an air sprayer (needs an air compressor) and just an electric one. Ultimately, we decided to go with the electric one in hopes it will be easier to use. I have read review after review and blog after blog in hopes of not making a mistake with this fairly expensive choice. In the end, we chose a sprayer that we hope will fit our needs while sticking to our budget as best we could.

We also snagged this baby online through Ebates* using a coupon code so we saved about $20 off the price and we’ll get about $8 in cash back in a check from Ebates. That takes our total from about $230 to $200 for this sprayer.

(P.S. Want to know more about Ebates? Now is a great time to sign up before your holiday online shopping. Want more info? Read this post. Then sign up using this link and start earning your rewards!

While we were at Lowe’sĀ to pick up our sprayer, we also grabbed a few cans of mistint paint to use on some practice projects as get used to using this sprayer. (We’re planning to spray our faded wicker furniture again, and possibly a few other random pieces of furniture we have sitting around in our basement before we tackle the “real” project…the pew!)

Paint Sprayer Test Paint

At $2.50 for each quart, we got a gallon of fun-colored paint for $10! Score!

We also grabbed some other supplies like drop cloths and masks. I’m pretty excited to try this out. Hopefully we’ll have some updates soon on how it works!

Another big purchase was Wyatt’s new circular saw, which is also pretty exciting.

We were super lucky in that we won the Westlake’s Project of the Month for October, which means we had $50 to spend on this. It made a fairly large purchase seem a lot smaller since less money was actually coming out of our pockets.

Wyatt plans to use this on the pew and the table this weekend so hopefully we’ll make some major progress on both of those projects!

And perhaps the biggest purchase of all is a 10′ by 6′ trailer we can pull behind our CRV! We’ve been talking about buying a trailer with my parents for awhile now and when Wyatt found one on an online auction last week, we bid on it, and won it! It was really a lucky, find, and I’m already dreaming about Craigslist purchases and lumber hauls from Home Depot!

(Sorry I was lame and didn’t go out to take a picture of the trailer in the rain. I’ll try to post one on Instagram or Facebook soon for you all.)
