From time to time, I’d love to feature awesome DIY projects, updates, and inspiration from other people to help give you all a little something new and different to think about. If you’re anything like me, you get excited by seeing the projects other people have completed. And, I know that our style isn’t exactly like everyone else’s style, so sometimes showing new things can be fun.

Today, I wanted to share an awesome DIY sign my sister and her husband made for their kitchen and dining room area.

Goss Blessing Sign

They are currently in a rental house so they don’t have too much on the walls, but this is one little upgrade that made a big difference. Also, imagine how even more awesome it would look on a rich wall color. And be sure to compare how awesomely large it is compared to the light switch below.

Her husband is super handy and does a lot of things around the house (like grow a garden in the back of his pickup truck!). He also builds awesome things out of wood, like the frame for this sign. He says he used rough cut ceder from the hardware store to make the simple frame, which was the perfect rustic base for the metal of the sign.

For the actual sign, they used some salvaged tin from a barn roof, hammed smooth into a flat surface. He says it wasn’t a hard process, but a loud one! (But I love the patina on this old metal so I say it was totally worth it!)

The letters came from one of those vinyl removable sticker sets, and I think it says the perfect blessing for over a kitchen table.

Overall, I think it’s perfect for the rustic, handmade, craftsman-style home they’re planning to build one day soon. And it’s just polished, sentimental, and antique enough to fit into into eclectic, more modern styles too. (I’ll take one for Christmas, okay, bro-in-law? Just kidding…sort of.)

What inspires you lately? What do you think about their rustic kitchen sign?
