Welcome back, all! How was your Christmas?

We spent Christmas with our families, all of them, driving all over the place to visit as many people as we could during this special time of year. We went to two different churches, slept in two different beds (together, just on different nights!), and had two delicious dinners. We opened presents with grandparents and cousins, parents, siblings, even some pets! And it was all wonderful. But now that all the crazy-jam-packed family time is done…

It’s time for us.

See, this is our first Christmas at home. Home. Our home.

This house we wished for, prayed over, searched so long for, and worked so hard to make it our own–this is our home. This is where we want to make our own memories, create our own traditions, celebrate our own little family of two.

But we went home for the holidays.

So there’s a disconnect somewhere, right? How can we be at home whenever we’re not here? How can we leave our home to go home? How can we leave there to come home to our house?

The best I can figure, home is really just wherever we feel most at peace, most ourselves, and most in love. And for now, until we have kiddos of our own to watch open presents on Christmas morning under our tree, we’re happy to go home and have those moments with our families. Then, we say goodbye and get in our car and drive back here, to have those special moments as a couple, just the two of us, in our home.

That’s what we’re doing today, having our own little Christmas, just the two of us. At home.
