This is a long overdue post since this project has been finished for several months now, but I’ve had a few questions about it recently so I thought I’d go ahead and write up a post about one of my favorite little touches in our house.

Yup, the Friends frame.

It appears in almost every episode, and even though they never really talk about it, it’s one of the most iconic images from the show.

Obviously, I love it. And when Hubs asked if I’d like to put one on our door, I jumped at the chance.

Yes, you can buy one like this one:

on Amazon here, or other places, but the $50 price tag was WAY over my budget for something like that. So, we started looking for other options.

Hubs actually found this little frame outside a thrift store in Branson, in a bin of frame marked 50 cents each. Score! We snapped it up, and I gave it a rinse, and then several coats of bright yellow paint.

Then, I added some simple magnets to the back (our door is metal) which allowed it to hang without being too permanent.

Then, it was time to stick it on the door (freshly painted black, as seen in this post).

Now, you could spring for the “authentic” (imagine how cool it would be to have the real one! I wonder who does… Courtney Cox? Marta Kauffman?) one, I say there’s no need to. I’m sure there are LOTS of cheapo thrift store frames out there that would work great for something like this. And as long as you are close to the right shape, and it’s painted yellow, any FRIENDS fan is going to know exactly what look you are going for. You don’t even need a purple door, although feel free to go for it if you want. (Hubs gave me permission I had wanted to!

I love the little touch of color, whimsy, and Friends-fanatic fun that it adds to our home.

For those of you that have checked out our Home Tour, you’ve already seen this picture, and my hinted-at adoration of the frame.
