With all the work in the garden and the kitchen, I hadn’t had much time to spend on planting any flower pots for our deck. Wyatt thinks potted plants are silly (spending money on something we just have to take care of all summer!) so he’s not one for pushing me to get busy on projects like that, but it still makes me happy to have some color out there.

Plus, I noticed that one of the local nurseries had all their stuff for 50% off…so I grabbed a few fun things and set off to spruce up our deck for the summer, especially considering using it more often was one of our resolutions.

Then, last weekend, I finally set out to get them planted.

Flowers to Plant 2014

After a few minutes, this is what I was left with:

Potted Flowers on Deck 5

Not too shabby, if I do say so myself for $20 and 30 minutes of work.

Potted Flowers on Deck 2

We sold some of our patio furniture, and the rest needs a new coat of paint before we can use it (the wicker is rotting away and shedding bits of colored flakes everywhere), so we are lacking a bit on seating at the moment.

And did you notice the cute little blue teapot on the table?

Oh wait, it’s not a normal teapot…there’s a weird hole in the back…

Teapot Watering Can 3

Because it’s THE CUTEST WATERING CAN IN THE WORLD.

When I saw that little cutie for 50% off (making it a bargain at $1.50), I was immediately smitten and it just jumped into my arms, begging to go home with me. Luckily, Wyatt didn’t mind too much since it didn’t break the bank or anything. And it makes me happy, so he’s also happy, right?

So, even though things aren’t looking too great out there, I’m satisfied to know that all is well with the world when I have flowers in my life and I can water those flowers with a blue teapot.

To remind you, our patio last year looked like this:

In comparison, I’m a little ashamed at how it looks so far this year, but considering our kitchen has been looking like this…

…it’s not too bad I suppose.

Have you planted anything recently? Do you also have flowers on your patio or deck…simply because they’re happy and lovely and worth all the watering? What’s the cutest watering can you’ve ever seen?
