Among many projects we worked on this holiday season. This proved to be one of the fastest and easiest. We had some leftover scraps of barn wood boards from the Manger Project. They were different widths, but that makes the tree turn out better.

Melissa measured lengths of the boards so they would make a tree shape. I quickly cut them with my miter saw, but you could cut them with a hand saw or a circular saw.

After all of the pieces were cut, I pre-drilled the holes for the screws in the “trunk” of the tree.  This will ensure the old, dry wood doesn’t split out.

Once it was finished, we realized it needed a stand.  So we attached a scrap piece of 2″ x 4″ that helped it stand up.Building Barnwood Christmas Tree 3

Melissa added a tree skirt before adding it to the cluster of trees at the end of our hallway.

This tree only took about 30 minutes. Do you have any quick projects that can be completed with just scraps?
