A brand new laundry basket!

I get that normally a laundry basket might not really be worth writing home about (or rather writing to you guys), but I totally love the new one we found at World Market on Saturday. It’s awesome for so many reasons that I feel the need to break it down here:

1. It’s way bigger than the previous “basket” we were using. Plus, it’s tall instead of wide so when people come over and I don’t have time to stash the dirty clothes from our bedroom in the laundry room hamper (which also needs to be fixed/replaced), they don’t get a nice view of our dirty socks and undies all out in the open.

2. It makes me feel more like a grown up. Something about a red plastic tub just doesn’t scream “Lovely Master Suite,” eh? We may not always feel super mature, but this nice, natural basket will certainly help push us in that direction!

3. We got a good deal. Large baskets are so expensive, often more than $50…and this one was a decent price on sale for $40 before the 15% off coupon. After that, it was a great price at $25!

4. I can carry it with one hand without all the laundry spilling out. The tote I was using before was too long to do that, meaning I had to use my hip bone (ouch) to support the full basket when I needed my other hand for things like starting the dryer or opening a door or grabbing some hangers.

5. The espresso colored finish will match/blend with the new dresser and chest we found (but haven’t actually purchased yet–stay tuned for more details on this exciting development!)

6. It’s just pretty! And as the current (most likely) permanent “Laundry Fairy” of this household, I feel more smiley when I carry loads of clothes back and forth from the bedroom to the laundry room and back again to fold.

Ok, I think that’s about all the praise you guys can handle for a laundry basket on a Tuesday evening. So why don’t you tell me your most recent favorite purchase? Do you harbor an unconventional love for a laundry basket, too?

  • I bought a new stainless steel trash can a few weeks ago and love it! I got it at Lowe’s on Black Friday. (It was originally like $120, with 20% off, and I had a gift card to cover almost all of the rest!). It’s amazing how “grown-up” you feel when you get excited about new trash cans and laundry baskets!

  • I’m in the process of purchasing something that is a big dry erase calendar and cork board. I want to hang it up in our laundry room to organize my to do list. The calendar will only have what I’m going to do each day, rather than using a whole bunch of paper. Plus it doesn’t have to look super fancy if I keep it in the laundry room. Messy handwriting and crazy chore lists galore! 🙂 I’m hoping I can get my life more organized (including our 3 bedroom apartment) while keeping up with my growing girl (currently 3 months old).
